It is a known fact that whenever Telugu Desam Party MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy speaks, there is a lot of attention given to his words. He is known for giving his opinions fearlessly. His recent comments on politics in Anantapur have got rumours mills ringing in political circles.
Apparently, he told media persons that at least 7 to 8 MLAs in Anantapur district should be changed. “Those who are corrupt should not be given a ticket. Because of a negative image of these MLAs, TDP Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu’s image is taking a hit. Everyone is witnessing his hard work for the state. But, there are some MLAs who are charging money even to give letters for Tirupati. So, if these people are removed, CM’s image will grow and TDP will come back to power. I will personally convey these things to the CM,” he explained.
Commenting on the lack of gratitude among public representatives and people of coastal districts towards CM, Diwakar Reddy said “You, people from coastal districts feel gold is the most important asset. Even after deciding to locate the capital in your region, you have no gratitude and are dissatisfied for some or the other reason. But, for us, in Rayalaseema, water is gold.”
When asked about his role in the upcoming elections, Diwakar Reddy clarified that he and his brother J.C. Prabhakar Reddy will not contest elections and instead their sons will enter the fray. “Our Anantapur is finally getting water. Our fields are being irrigated. So, I will go back to farming and enjoy the fruits of irrigation. That satisfaction of seeing water in our fields (in a drought region) is inexplicable,” he said to reporters. Through this, Diwakar Reddy has indirectly announced his retirement to active politics and will hand over the baton to his son.
