Giving out a statement that it will contest all the 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana, Telangana Congress has asked its allies to support the party in its campaign. Stating that the Prajakutami partners should not contest elections to the Lok Sabha, the Congress said they have to give their unperturbed support to the party.
“If they don’t want TRS to come to power in Telangana, then they should support us and campaign with us in all the 17 seats we are contesting. They, the TDP, Left parties, and the TJS should not contest from any of these 17 seats,” said a Congress leader who did not want to be named.
However, the Prajakutami partners have a different say in this. While the TDP has been keen on contesting from Khammam Lok Sabha seat, the TJS is planning to ask for 2 Lok Sabha seats while the Left wants to contest from Nalgonda. However, Congress leaders believe that the allies will not win any seats and hence, has asked them to stay away from having such hopes.
Following their drubbing in the Telangana Assembly elections, the Congress leadership in Telangana believes that Congress needs to go solo to prove its mettle. In this regard, the party has given a soft warning to its allies to stay away and just support it while they will contest the Lok Sabha elections this time.
