Not Just Rashmika, I Can Even Kiss Chair – Vijay

Vijay Deverakonda is the sensation of Tollywood. He is equally making waves in Kollywood, Sandalwood and Mollywood. While his Dear Comrade is going to be the first Telugu movie releasing in all 4 languages simultaneously on 26th July (Baahubali released in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi but not in Kannada), Vijay gets candid and witty best in an exclusive chat.

The super smart, witty speaker, highly energetic yet grounded Vijay Deverakonda talks about the steamy lip-locks in Dear Comrade, his friendship with Rashmika Mandanna, his Bollywood plans, handling stardom and lots more.

Rashmika Mandanna
Rashmika is a good friend. Especially after doing films, it becomes quite easier to work with Rashmika. It is comfortable to work with her. Before Geetha Govindam, I had never met Rashmika. The first time, I had seen her was on the sets of Geetha Govindam and in the very first scene of our first day, we had done the bike scene.

Kissing Chair
Not just Rashmika, had it been any other girl, I would have done similar romance in the film as the movie needs it. I could have done same romance even if it was a chair. (“I can do it with a chair too” ….Laughs). As an actor, I have to do. Although it is not real, my job is to make audiences believe that it is real. Be it emotion or romance, as an actor, I should make people believe what they are watching on screen is real.

Lip-locks
No, I’m not doing lip-locks for sentiment. That’s the most stupid question. So, if there are lip-locks in the film, is the movie going to be hit. So, all the films with lip-locks are becoming hits? I think in coming years, Tollywood will also come to terms with the on-screen kiss scenes. (like Bollywood).

Dear Comrade
We have started Dear Comrade as a Telugu film. But in mid-way, we realized that the film can also be made in Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam as the content has that appeal. The story of Dear Comrade doesn’t have language barriers. People cutting across the states can watch it. Hence we have decided to dub the film in Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. No, I’m not dubbing in other languages due to Time constraint. I’ve only dubbed for my role in Telugu.

Dear Comrade is an emotional film. It is journey of Bobby and Lilly, two childhood friends. The film has many layers like student politics, love, emotion. Bobby is not the guy whom you would encounter with everyday. Where as Lilly is a girl who is just like every girl. But politics doesn’t have a major role in the movie. Just like how I was a college lecturer in Geetha Govindam, the student politics in Dear Comrade are also similar. Bobby’s grandfather was a communist leader.

Bollywood Calling
Yes, I will do a Hindi film in future if I get perfect opportunity. After Kabir Singh, I’ve become more famous there. But I somehow don’t like moving to Mumbai and renting out a place there and doing a film there. I rather love to do a Telugu movie at my home turf and from here, I would want to reach to Hindi as well.

Rajamouli garu proved it with Baahubali. Sundeep did it with Kabir Singh although he had made it by moving to Bombay. Shankar and Mani Ratnam sirs had done it long before.
