It is interesting to watch how Jana Sena Party Chief Pawan Kalyan’s stance has been changing over the demand for Special Status to Andhra Pradesh. While he had initially made some noise stating that he would go to Delhi and demand Special Status from Modi government, later, he fell silent about it.
Reacting to the arrest of students and Left Party leaders, he tweeted: “JSP Strongly condemns the arrest of Left Parties Leaders of Sri Ramakrishna ji( CPI), Sri Madhu(CPM) and lathi charge on Students of JSP students wing Left parties; while doing Dharna for SCS in Delhi. We demand Delhi police & Government of India not to press any charges as they were exercising their fundamental right & We want the injured students & cadre to be given proper treatment.”
While his tweets have won appreciation from his supporters for protesting in Delhi for Special Status, there is no mention of his demand for Special Status either from the NDA government or to the Prime Minister. On the day when TDP MPs were suspended, not having to comment on special status but making statements about the arrest of leaders for protesting makes no impact for Jana Sena and exhibits Pawan’s diplomacy.
One wonders why Pawan is not demanding Special Status directly but is making tweets, asking the Delhi police to be nice to the protestors? Only Pawan knows the logic behind his statements!
