After winning box office as well as accolades for his deft handling of ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’, director Krish was roped in to bring the story of Rani of Jhansi, Lakshmi Bai on to silver screen. Unfortunately for him, the historical project titled ‘Manikarnika’ has now landed in legal soup.
Manikarnika was recently announced with Krish as the director and award winning actress Kangana Ranaut as the lead. Now, noted Bollywood filmmaker Ketan Mehta has sent a legal notice to Kangana accusing her of hijacking his ambitious project, “Rani of Jhansi: The Warrior Queen”.
In the notice, Mehta alleged that he had first approached Kangana for the biopic of Lakshmi Bai in 2015 and that he got her green signal. “I had shared all the research material and several drafts of the script with Kangana as she was actively participating in script discussions over last two years. However, I never thought she would finally hijack my project and rope in another filmmaker to helm it,” said Mehta.
