Marathi and Tamil actress, Shruti Marathe, opened up about her glamour world problems in one of her recent interviews. She gave some disturbing details about casting couch in the film industry.
She claimed that people mistake celebrities’ lives as a fairytale and actors lead a comfortable life which is not true. ‘ Whether we like it or not, whether we feel right or not, we have to be the best every time and there are no bad days,’ she said.
Shruti recalled one of her struggling days where she was asked to wear a bikini for a Tamil film. She said she agreed to the terms without thinking twice. ‘I was getting an opportunity to be in a film and that’s all it mattered!’ she said. But, after a few days, the bikini incident gave a way to many trolls and abuses. She was objectified and it ruined her self-esteem. However, she continued working with pride.
When asked about casting couch experience, she said, ‘Once I met a producer who said he would offer a lead role in the film. After being decent for a few days, he started saying ‘you have to compromise and accept one night stands’. I asked him, ‘If you want me to sleep with you, who are you making the hero sleep with?’ He was stunned. Later, I was out of that project as I didn’t give what producer has asked me to,” she said.
Shruti’s braveness and righteousness is being highly lauded by netizens. “You go girl! So proud of the fact that you stood up for yourself! Nothing speaks louder than hardwork and fearlessness!” one Instagram user wrote. Currently, the actress was roped for two offers in Bollywood.
