Congress party is one of the oldest surviving parties in the world. It played a big role in the freedom fight and came to power. The grand old party ruled India for around six decades. But things started to change in 2014. The party is now going through a big crisis and its future is put in question.
The situation reached a point where senior leader Rahul Gandhi had to start a nationwide yatra to revive the party. Titled Bharat Jodo Yatra, the rally was designed in a way to cover the nation from Kashmir To Kanya Kumari. Political experts say that Rahul Gandhi’s image increased.
Now Sonia Gandhi, the former Chief of the grand old party hinted that she would set down from politics. At an event, Sonia said that she feels her innings would conclude with the Bharat Jodo Yatra and would be a turning point for the party.
The grand old party held its 85th plenary session which is a three-day event in Chhattisgarh. Thousands of people gathered for the event. Addressing the gathering, Sonia Gandhi said that this would be the end of her career in politics.
She hinted that she would retire from politics and urged everyone to fight together against the BJP and RSS as they have captured every institution in the nation to benefit a few businessmen. She also said that this is a testing time for the country and Congress.
“This is a challenging time for Congress & the country as a whole. BJP-RSS has captured and subverted every single institution in the country. It has caused economic ruin by favouring a few businessmen,” Congress ex-chief Sonia Gandhi said.
