Uttar Pradesh’s lawmaker from BJP, Anshul Verma, has not been selected as a candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This made him upset and out of anger, he handed over his resignation to the chowkidar(guard) of the BJP office in Lucknow. He gave an indirect implication to the present BJP’s ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ campaign.
Anshul won the 2014 election from the Hardoi seat, near Lucknow. But, this time, the party did not consider his name for the seat as it is reported that Anshul stayed apathetic to his party workers and constituency. Now, Jai Prakash Rawat has been chosen in place of him and Anshul Verma joined the Samajwadi Party.
He later quoted in reference to chowkidar campaign that, ‘I worked for development. I will remain Anshul, I won’t call myself chowkidar’. He also asked the media to record his action as he writes his resignation letter to BJP chief Amit Shah. He wrote that the BJP won from Hardoi(2014) after 25 years only because of him in the letter.
