Until TDP walked out of NDA and pull out its ministers and move the No Confidence Motion against Narendra Modi-led government, national media has taken YS Jagan lightly. Since Jagan is in opposition, national media hardly considered him. But things have changed rapidly after TDP broke up with BJP.
Now, almost all the surveys of national media houses are projecting YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as the next CM of Andhra Pradesh and also predicting that his party would sweep in the coming Lok Sabha polls in the state.
Be it Republic TV or India Today or Times Now, all have been saying that there’s edge for Jagan to come to power. Whilst there is some truth as Jagan’s graph has been increasing substantially after his Padayatra, however, national media seems to be over hyping Jagan’s strength. TDP leaders allege that BJP is behind these surveys and allege that BJP’s top leaders are boosting Jagan’s prospects. On the other hand, it is also rumoured that Jagan’s political adviser and JD (U) vice president Prashant Kishor has a role to play in this given his contacts and network with national media houses.
While TDP may throw blame on BJP and PK, but at the same time, it’s time for the party to introspect. Certainly, TDP’s graph is declining over the past few months.
