YCP Worries On TDP’s 500 crs Election Spend?

With just 5 months to go for Assembly Elections in Andhra Pradesh, the political scene is heating up with calculated strategies and planning for election spending. The scene in Ananthapur is also somehow similar. In a fresh attack on the Telugu Desam Party, YSRCP MP Vijay Sai Reddy has said that the TDP is planning to spend Rs. 500 crore in the district in the garb of Kia Motors.

“One acre is being sold to Kia Motors at Rs. 2 crore. It is a huge land scam and the TDP government is making crores out of this land scam. With this, they are planning to spend nearly Rs. 500 crore in 14 assembly constituency in the district for the upcoming elections,” alleged Vijay Sai Reddy in a Facebook post.

If one were to analyse his allegations, Ananthapur district has traditionally been with the Telugu Desam Party. Despite YSRCP’s claims of its cadre strengthening, the district has a history of making the TDP win.

Now, with a massive investment like KIA Motors which has brought in thousands of jobs to locals of the districts as well as the development of the district as a Horticulture hub will reap benefit for the TDP and improve the party’s image, say TDP sources. A drought-hit district has become a horticultural hub, say local leaders who believe that the people of Ananthapur will recognise TDP’s development works and go with the party.

Meanwhile, political observers who didn’t want to be named said that a few hundreds of crores will be spent in each districts for AP Assembly elections in 2019. In Telangana alone, more than 10 constituencies saw a spending of Rs. 100 crore.

With such estimates in Telangana, political observers say that the spending by political parties (TDP, YSRCP, JSP and others) for elections in Andhra Pradesh will be way higher! Even if Vijay Sai teReddy’s allegations were true, it signifies that the YSRCP is worried and concerned about the Rs. 500 crore election spend that TDP is planning for. Looks like TDP is making the money noises that worrying its rival parties.
