AP State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar stunned the political circles as he has written to Union Home Ministry seeking protection. In a five page letter, Nimmagadda mentioned many things about the local polls and current political situation in AP.
Nimmagadda stated that he is feeling insecure in the state. ‘Me or my family members might be attacked any time. To avoid this, I urge for central forces as security,’ wrote Nimmagadda in the letter and mentioned about the unanimous of MPTCs and ZPTCs in the state. ‘In 2014, only 2 percent of unanimous decisions happened. But this time, it is different and especially in Kadapa districts, over 75 percent of unanimous MPTCs and ZTPCs happened,’ said Nimmagadda.
Concluding, the Election Commissioner said the situation in AP are not favourable for holding the elections and definitely need central forces for security, said Nimmagadda.
This is a huge accusation on YSRCP government as CM Jagan has openly cornered Nimmagadda with local polls being postponed by six weeks. The Supreme Court today has defended Commissioner Nimmagadda’s stand too.
