“Jana Nayagan” has returned to the spotlight in a big way after Vijay officially took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The political wave surrounding the actor-turned-leader has now reignited strong buzz around the long-delayed film.

Adding fuel to the excitement, KVN Productions producer Venkat K Narayana recently confirmed in a national television interview that the team is currently waiting for the final CBFC certificate and a few remaining clearances. He stated that the makers are prepared to release the film in theaters immediately once the approvals are secured.

The movie was initially planned for a grand theatrical release on January 9, 2026. However, legal complications and censor-related hurdles forced the team to postpone the release indefinitely.

The delay reportedly affected the film’s OTT business as well. Sources say the original streaming agreement collapsed after the platform revised its offer and reduced the valuation, increasing the financial burden on the producer.

But the situation appears to have completely changed after Vijay’s massive political victory on May 4. With his popularity reaching new heights across India, “Jana Nayagan” has once again become a hot property in both theatrical and digital markets.

According to the latest industry reports, a new OTT platform has now come forward with an even bigger offer to acquire the streaming rights of the film. If the deal gets finalized, it could provide significant relief to the producer, who is also managing other ambitious and expensive projects like “Toxic.”
