Nagarjuna’s Annapurna Studios Clarifies Stand Amid Industry Row

Amid the ongoing tensions between the Producers Guild and the Telangana Exhibitors Association, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Annapurna Studios have officially clarified their position. In a statement shared on X, Annapurna Studios stated that Annapurna Studios Distribution will continue to follow the decisions and guidelines issued by the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC), maintaining the same approach it has followed over the years.
As one of the most prominent production and distribution houses in Telugu cinema, Annapurna Studios plays an important role in industry matters. Nagarjuna’s niece, Supriya Yarlagadda, who manages several operations of the studio, is also actively involved with the Producers Guild. Industry sources say the banner has consistently supported discussions related to cost-cutting measures and reforms within the film industry.
At the same time, Annapurna Studios also shares a strong professional relationship with exhibitor-distributor Suniel Narang of Asian Cinemas. Because of this long-standing association, the studio is reportedly trying to maintain a balanced stand during the ongoing conflict between producers and exhibitors.
With the dispute intensifying in recent days, the latest statement from Annapurna Studios is being seen as an attempt to back the industry’s apex trade body while also encouraging unity within the Telugu film fraternity.
Meanwhile, Annapurna Studios has been actively expanding its distribution wing. The banner is currently handling the Telugu release of Suriya’s upcoming film Veerabhadrudu in the Telugu states. It is also set to distribute the Kannada film Bala The Boy in June.
Industry insiders say Annapurna Studios is now focusing more aggressively on film distribution and is looking to acquire strong content-driven films to strengthen its presence among Telugu audiences.
