Chinmayi Slams Fake News Spread

Singer Chinmayi Sripada has once again found herself at the center of a social media debate after calling out what she described as the spread of misinformation through an old viral video.

Known for being outspoken on public issues, Chinmayi continues to actively voice her opinions online, even as her husband, actor-director Rahul Ravindran, recently chose to step away from social media following repeated online confrontations.

The latest controversy began after an X user shared a video showing a man allegedly smoking inside a temple premises and urged the Andhra Pradesh government to take action. The post also included comments targeting members of other religions and called for Hindus to unite against what it described as repeated acts of disrespect.

Chinmayi responded by claiming that the video being circulated was not recent but nearly four years old and that action had already been taken in the matter at the time. She accused the account of resharing outdated content to create unnecessary communal tensions.

In a video message posted on social media, Chinmayi urged authorities to take action against those deliberately spreading misleading information. She also expressed concern over certain social media accounts that, according to her, use religious narratives to circulate inflammatory content and deepen social divisions.

Her remarks have triggered mixed reactions online. While many users appreciated her effort to fact-check viral content and discourage misinformation, others disagreed with her views. Despite the differing opinions, Chinmayi has continued to maintain that verifying facts before sharing sensitive content is essential to preventing the spread of false narratives and communal discord.
