Sonam Kapoor and her husband, businessman Anand Ahuja, are reportedly facing controversy over their luxury mansion in London’s Notting Hill, according to a Daily Mail report.

The couple purchased the 200-year-old property around three years ago for approximately ₹270 crore. Soon after the acquisition, they proposed an extensive redevelopment plan, retaining only the original exterior walls. The proposed renovation reportedly includes a basement swimming pool and a subterranean basketball court.

After nearly three years of planning discussions, objections, and appeals, the renovation was finally approved earlier this month. However, reports suggest that tensions with neighbouring residents have increased since the clearance.

The report also claims that a company linked to the couple purchased five flats in a nearby residential complex, Hillcrest, for around ₹51 crore. Some residents believe the flats could later be used as staff accommodation for the mansion, though the couple’s representative has denied Sonam Kapoor’s direct involvement, stating the purchase was purely for investment purposes.

Residents quoted in the report alleged growing unease within the community, claiming they feel pressured not to voice concerns publicly. However, no official complaints or legal findings have been confirmed.

Separately, Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja reportedly own additional properties in Notting Hill as well as residences in Mumbai and Delhi.
