Posani’s ‘Arrest’ Joke Goes Viral

Veteran writer, actor, and filmmaker Posani Krishna Murali has once again found himself in the spotlight. This time, however, it is not because of one of his films, but due to a light-hearted remark he made during the promotions of his upcoming movie Operation Aruna Reddy, which has gone viral on social media.
At a recent promotional event, the host pointed out that many women today find it difficult to drape a saree, while Posani had effortlessly worn one for a role in the film, dancing and performing in the costume. When asked how he managed it, Posani responded in his trademark humorous style.
“If I start talking about women’s sarees or even my own saree, they’ll arrest me again. I’ve only just come out,” he joked.
His comment drew laughter from the audience, but after the video surfaced online, it sparked mixed reactions. While many viewed it as a harmless joke, others felt it indirectly referenced the political and legal controversies Posani has been involved in over the past few years.
Given his history of making politically charged statements and frequently making headlines for his outspoken views, the remark quickly became a talking point. Some social media users believe it was simply self-deprecating humour, while others interpreted it as a subtle comment on his past legal troubles.
Meanwhile, Operation Aruna Reddy, which is written, directed, and produced by Posani Krishna Murali, is gearing up for its theatrical release on July 17. The political suspense drama revolves around a fearless journalist who exposes corruption and political wrongdoing.
The film stars Hindola Chakravarthi, Kajal Sharma, and Ayesha Khan in key roles, while BJP leader Raghunandan Rao also appears in the film.
Posani’s career has been one of the most diverse in Telugu cinema. He began as an assistant writer under the Paruchuri Brothers before becoming a successful screenwriter, contributing to blockbuster films such as Pavitra Bandham and Preminchukundam Raa. He later established himself as a director with films like Sravana Masam and Operation Duryodhana, while also becoming one of Tollywood’s most recognizable character actors.
With Operation Aruna Reddy set to hit theatres soon, the viral comment has inadvertently generated additional attention for the film. Whether the online buzz translates into greater audience interest at the box office remains to be seen.
