Can These Three Films Revive Tollywood Box Office Before Peddi?

At the moment, Godari Gattu Paina remains the only film managing to hold steady at the Tollywood box office with decent collections. Despite the ongoing summer season, Telugu audiences currently have very limited theatrical options, resulting in a relatively dry phase for theatres across the Telugu states.

However, this week brings three interesting releases that could potentially revive some momentum at the box office. Among them are two straight Telugu films and one dubbed release. Until Peddi arrives in theatres on June 4, these movies may play an important role in attracting audiences back to cinemas.

Actor Nandu is coming up with another bold attempt titled Ugly Story, featuring Avika Gor as the female lead. The trailer has already generated curiosity among viewers, particularly within the youth audience. While the film’s theme may limit its reach among family viewers, the content appears to have enough potential to create a strong impact if executed well.

Another notable release is Purushaha, which is being promoted as a fun-filled youth and family entertainer. The film marks the debut of Pavan Kalyan Battula as a lead actor. With several familiar faces in the cast and a trailer that has already created positive buzz, the movie is expected to attract audiences looking for light-hearted entertainment. The comedy elements, in particular, could work in the film’s favour at the box office.

On the dubbed film front, Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 is also gearing up for release on May 21. Unlike previous versions, the Telugu audience will get to watch the original dubbed version this time instead of a remake. Given the massive popularity of the franchise, expectations are naturally high. If the film clicks with audiences, family viewers could turn up in large numbers once again.

With Peddi scheduled to release on June 4, the success of these upcoming films could provide much-needed support to theatres during this dry phase and help improve overall box office revenues until the next major release arrives.
