Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha has opened up about the growing challenges faced by artists in today’s entertainment industry, saying that filmmakers and actors no longer enjoy complete freedom to present hard-hitting truths on screen. According to her, films dealing with sensitive or realistic subjects often risk getting caught in controversies, making creators more cautious while selecting stories and characters.

Sonakshi pointed out that the rise of social media has drastically changed the creative environment in the film industry. She explained that every small detail is now closely scrutinized online, which puts pressure on filmmakers and actors. Compared to earlier times, the digital era has reduced the creative freedom artists once enjoyed, forcing them to think carefully before expressing certain ideas through cinema.

After making her debut with commercial entertainers like Dabangg, Sonakshi later earned appreciation for performance-oriented projects such as Lootera and Dahaad. She also appeared in the Tamil film Lingaa alongside Rajinikanth and Anushka Shetty, though she has not taken up another South Indian project since then. In recent years, however, she has been actively building a strong presence on OTT platforms.

Sonakshi will next be seen in the upcoming legal drama System, where she plays a lawyer for the first time in her career. Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, the film revolves around a strong-willed advocate named Neha Rajvanshi who fights for her values and principles. The actress said courtroom dramas offered her a completely fresh experience, and she especially enjoyed sharing screen space with Ashutosh Gowariker, who plays her father in the film.

She also had special praise for co-star Jyothika, saying the South Indian actress impressed her with her discipline and dedication. Sonakshi revealed that both of them shared a similar work ethic, which helped them build a strong rapport on set. She added that working with a talented performer like Jyothika motivated her to improve further as an actor and expressed interest in collaborating with her again in the future.

Reflecting on her journey, Sonakshi admitted that she may regret some career choices, but she does not look down upon any film she has done. She believes mistakes are a natural part of life and that learning from them is what truly matters. Meanwhile, System is scheduled to premiere on May 22 on Amazon Prime Video, while Sonakshi is currently busy shooting for the second season of Dahaad.
