Chiru, Balayya, Venky, Nag for Sankranthi

Sankranthi 2027 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting festive seasons for Telugu cinema, with the possibility of all four senior stars—Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, and Balakrishna—competing at the box office.

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s film with Bobby is being planned for a Sankranthi release. The duo previously delivered the blockbuster Waltair Veerayya during the festive season, making the combination a natural fit for another Pongal outing.

Victory Venkatesh’s upcoming entertainer with Anil Ravipudi is also expected to hit theatres during Sankranthi. The film is set to go on floors later this month, and given Anil Ravipudi’s impressive track record with festival releases, the team is unlikely to miss the lucrative season.

Nagarjuna initially intended to bring the sequel to Soggade Chinni Nayana for Sankranthi. However, sources indicate that the script has not completely satisfied the actor. As a result, his ongoing landmark project, tentatively titled #King100, is now being considered for a Pongal release.

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s #NBK111, directed by Gopichand Malineni, was originally planned for Dussehra. However, industry buzz suggests that the film may not be ready in time, increasing the possibility of a Sankranthi release instead. Balakrishna had earlier hoped to launch his film with Koratala Siva and target the festival season, but scheduling constraints may push that project further, leaving #NBK111 as his likely Sankranthi contender.

Among the four senior stars, Nagarjuna’s film appears to be the biggest question mark. Since it is being directed by a Tamil filmmaker and is believed to belong to a relatively serious genre, some feel it may not be an ideal fit for a festive release. However, with no promotional material released so far, it is too early to draw conclusions.

Interestingly, all four stars have delivered some of the biggest hits of their careers during the Sankranthi season. That history, coupled with the festival’s reputation as the most rewarding period for Telugu cinema, explains why none of them are willing to give up the coveted release window.

If all plans materialize, Sankranthi 2027 could witness a rare and fascinating clash featuring the Telugu industry’s celebrated senior quartet.
