Producer Abhishek Nama has made headlines with his candid remarks about Vijay Deverakonda while promoting his upcoming directorial venture, Nagabandham. Speaking in a recent interview, Abhishek revealed that he suffered significant financial losses due to World Famous Lover and had hoped Vijay would collaborate with his banner to help him recover, but that never happened.
Recalling the film’s disappointing box-office performance, Abhishek said he handled the Andhra Pradesh distribution of World Famous Lover, which starred Vijay Deverakonda in the lead. The film failed commercially, leaving distributors with heavy losses.
Despite the setback, Abhishek emphasized that he never approached Vijay seeking financial compensation.
“We never asked Vijay Deverakonda for even a single rupee after the film failed. We only hoped he would do a film under our banner so we could recover some of our losses,” he said.
According to the producer, he waited nearly three years with that expectation but did not receive any response from the actor’s side.
Abhishek’s comments have reignited discussions around World Famous Lover and the larger debate over whether leading actors should support distributors and producers who incur losses from unsuccessful films. While he did not accuse Vijay of any wrongdoing, his remarks reflected the disappointment of a producer who had expected a future collaboration.
Directed by Kranti Madhav and produced by K. S. Rama Rao, World Famous Lover featured Raashii Khanna, Aishwarya Rajesh, Catherine Tresa, and Izabelle Leite alongside Vijay Deverakonda. Although the film released with decent expectations, it failed to make an impact at the box office.
With Abhishek Nama’s statements now going viral, industry observers are waiting to see whether Vijay Deverakonda will respond to the producer’s comments or choose to remain silent on the issue.
