Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi release shelved; likely to get a news release date

Sooryavanshi is a much hyped movie featuring Akshay Kumar, directed by Rohit Shetty. It would have been the primary Bollywood big deal to hit film screens post pandemic. Consequently, the conviction was that it would unquestionably pull in huge crowds and accordingly, restart the business which has been in peril since 12 months.

The makers never officially declared the date since the theatrical release and other factors like revenue sharing, OTT, theatrical window and distribution ended in a deadlock. Of late when restrictions were eased, things got better nonetheless the recent limited lockdown in Maharashtra once again affected a film like Suryavanshi as it was initially planned to be released on April 2nd.

Credible sources confirmed that the film has inadvertently postponed. It won’t release on April 2 as planned but soon to have another date.

A source disclosed, “The makers of Sooryavanshi, including Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty, have jointly decided that the film should not release on April 2. The cases are increasing not just in Maharashtra now but also in other places of India. Sooryavanshi is a big-budget film and it won’t be feasible to release at a time when night curfew will be imposed in certain parts of the country.”

Reportedly, a meeting is being held by makers today in the afternoon with all the stakeholders. A decision on the new date is anticipated to be taken at this discussion.
