Tuck Jagadish is the biggest Telugu direct OTT release of the year. Amazon Prime Video has bagged the direct to digital rights of the Nani starrer and not so long ago, it was reported that the film will be made available for streaming on the platform starting from 10th September. However, for some strange reason, Amazon Prime Video is not announcing the digital premieres date of Tuck Jagadish. The OTT giant is taking forever to drop an official update on the action drama. Well, there are several reasons behind the delay in the announcement of Tuck Jagadish’s OTT premieres date.
One of those reasons is the theatrical release of Love Story. The Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi starrer is releasing in theaters on 10th September. Telangana Film Chamber raised objections over the OTT release plans of Tuck Jagadish, saying it is unethical to release the film on OTT on the same day as Love Story which is releasing in theaters. This might be lingering in the heads of the makers of Tuck Jagadish as they wouldn’t want to rub the distributors and exhibitors on the wrong side by releasing their film on OTT on the same day as Love Story.
Also, a pan-India film, Thalaivi is releasing on the same date. So, there are fair few factors resulting in uncertainty over Tuck Jagasish’s OTT premiers. It appears to be that Amazon Prime has not yet decided on the OTT premieres of Tuck Jagadish. 10th September is the plausible release date for now but nothing is for certain.
As for Nani, he is completely against OTT release, but he had to change his mind, given the plight of the producers who have invested big bucks on the film. So he hesitantly approved the OTT release proposal. “I am the biggest fan of theatres and Tuck Jagadish is a quintessential Telugu film which we would’ve loved watching in a theatre with a full house and it was always meant to be experienced on the big screen for a festival. I am quite torn between the pressures the producers are facing in these uncertain times with big stakes at risk. With the unpredictable conditions here and abroad and the unfortunate restrictions on theatres in Andhra, it has become a conflict in many ways. I have the utmost respect for the producers and I believe any call regarding the film they make, should be theirs. So here I am, at crossroads for the second time! Leaving the decision about Tuck Jagadish to SHINE SCREENS. No matter what, I will do my 100 percent till it reaches all of you in whatever way,” he wrote.
