Bollywood’s beloved “Khiladi” Akshay Kumar is set to appear in the fifth installment of Rohit Shetty’s hit comedy franchise Golmaal, reportedly earning a massive ₹35–40 crore for a brief 18–22 day shoot. Interestingly, this amount is said to be higher than the film’s lead actor Ajay Devgn’s upfront fee.

According to industry sources, Akshay’s deal is linked to a profit-sharing model, making his overall earnings significantly higher despite limited shooting days. “Akshay Kumar is shooting for 18–22 days, and he is getting around ₹35–40 crore, which is more than Ajay Devgn’s upfront fees because he is on a profit-sharing basis,” the source revealed.

Director Rohit Shetty had officially announced Golmaal 5 during his birthday in March, also teasing Akshay Kumar as a “surprise package” in the film. Behind-the-scenes glimpses from the shoot later revealed Akshay’s striking bald look, adding to the buzz around his role.

Earlier in April, Ajay Devgn confirmed the commencement of a new shooting schedule and shared a fun video montage from Ooty featuring Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Shreyas Talpade, and Kunal Kemmu. The core Golmaal cast continues to return, keeping the franchise’s ensemble tradition intact.

The Golmaal series began with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, inspired by stage plays, and went on to become one of Bollywood’s most successful comedy franchises with sequels released in 2008, 2010, and 2017. Over the years, the films have featured a rotating ensemble of actors, including Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, and others, with Akshay Kumar now joining the latest chapter.

Meanwhile, Akshay was recently seen teasing his upcoming project Welcome To The Jungle, where he shared a stylish jungle-themed still on social media. He also captioned it, “Next… #WelcomeToTheJungle.”

Adding to the nostalgia, Rohit Shetty recently recreated an iconic scene from the original Golmaal (2006) with Arshad Warsi and Sharman Joshi, reminding fans of the franchise’s long-standing popularity.
