The recent controversy involving actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and director Sanjeev Megoti has ended on an amicable note, with the filmmaker publicly apologizing for his remarks about her absence from the promotional activities of their upcoming film Police Complaint.

The issue began when Sanjeev Megoti, speaking at a press meet, expressed disappointment over Varalaxmi not participating in the film’s promotions. He said many were questioning whether the actress had only a limited role in the movie because of her absence from promotional events. Emphasizing her importance to the film, he noted that Varalaxmi appears on screen for nearly two hours and plays a pivotal character.

The director also claimed that the actress had delayed dubbing for several months and revealed that the production schedule had to be adjusted after she sustained a hand injury. According to him, these setbacks had created financial strain for the producer. He further compared her absence with the efforts made by several industry personalities who actively support their films during promotions.

However, the controversy took a positive turn on Thursday when Sanjeev Megoti released a video apologizing to Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. Acknowledging his mistake, the director clarified that the actress had continued working on the film despite her injury and had fully cooperated with the team throughout the shoot.

He admitted that his comments at the press meet were inappropriate and stressed that Varalaxmi had never created any issues for the production. Sanjeev also revealed that several members of the film fraternity had questioned him over his remarks. While explaining that his intention was to organize a press interaction with the actress to support the film’s distributors, he expressed regret over the manner in which he handled the situation and promised that such an incident would not be repeated.

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar responded positively to the apology. Sharing the director’s video on her Instagram Story, she wrote, “Apology accepted… justice and truth will always win.”

She also thanked the Telugu Film Producers Council and its representatives for intervening promptly and helping resolve the matter.
