Bigg Boss Telugu 6: Petition filed in AP High Court against the Nagarjuna hosted show over ‘obscenity’ concerns

Nagarjuna-hosted Bigg Boss Telugu season 6 has made headlines yet again.
As per the latest reports, a petition was reportedly filed against the show in Andhra Pradesh High Court today (September 30) by advocate Kethireddy Jagadeeswar Reddy. The petition demands a change in the telecast time of Bigg Boss Telugu season 6, following the guidelines of Indian Broadcasting Foundation over concerns of ‘obscenity’ in the show or suspension of the show in case the guidelines are not met.
Bigg Boss Telugu season 6 is currently airing between 10PM and 11PM on weekdays and at 9PM on weekends when host Nagarjuna interacts with the housemates and the LIVE audiences on the set. The TV series in Telugu has adopted the new time slot from season 4. The previous seasons were aired at 9:30 PM.

This is not the first time that Bigg Boss Telugu is mired in controversies. Ahead of season 3 of the TV series, actress Gayatri Gupta and a Hyderabad-based journalist Swetha Reddy also filed a case against four of Bigg Boss Telugu 3’s organisers alleging them of indulging in casting couch and fat-shaming her. This sparked a furore and debate about casting couch in Telugu entertainment industry and the safety of women. In a separate incident, nearly eight students from the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) staged a protest outside the house of actor Nagarjuna Akkineni reportedly demanding a comment by him on the allegations of sexual harassment were made by women.

Meanwhile, Bigg Boss Telugu season 6 has recorded the lowest TRPs for its premiere episode. However, the recently released TRP report shows the show witnessed a marginal dip in its weekly average TRPs while the viewership of the weekend episodes hosted by Nagarjuna has seen a hike.
