Ram Pothineni is making a bold creative shift by stepping into the director’s chair for his upcoming project, marking a significant milestone in his career. He joins the list of Telugu cinema stars who have taken on direction, including legends like N. T. Rama Rao, Krishna, Pawan Kalyan, and actor Vishwak Sen. According to sources, this move reflects his growing interest in exploring creative storytelling beyond acting.

After showcasing his versatility as a singer and lyricist in Andhra King Taluka, Ram is now set to make his directorial debut with his 23rd film, tentatively titled #RAPO23. The project was announced on his birthday and is said to be a stylish psychological action thriller.

Backed by Krishna Pothineni under the newly launched Rapo Cinematics banner, the film is expected to present Ram in a completely new and intense avatar. Adding to the significance, he is not only directing the film but also writing its story, making #RAPO23 one of the most ambitious projects of his career.

Industry sources note that Telugu cinema has seen mixed results when actors turned directors. While NTR delivered classics like Seetharama Kalyanam and Dana Veera Soora Karna, Krishna achieved success with Simhasanam. However, Pawan Kalyan’s Johnny did not perform well at the box office, highlighting the unpredictability of actor-directors.
