While Allu Arjun is currently occupied with the shooting of Raaka under director Atlee, work on his next project with Lokesh Kanagaraj is steadily progressing behind the scenes.

Although the film, tentatively titled AA23, is not expected to go on floors immediately, Lokesh has already begun pre-production. As part of the initial phase, the director is reportedly planning a series of look tests for Allu Arjun.

Since the actor has been spending most of his time in Mumbai for the Raaka shoot, he is said to have requested Lokesh to conduct the look tests there. Consequently, Mumbai has become the hub for the early pre-production activities of AA23.

Meanwhile, speculation is rife that Pooja Hegde’s recent short-hair makeover could be connected to the project. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding her casting or whether she will play the female lead.

Sources say Lokesh is making the most of the waiting period by completing as much groundwork as possible. Along with finalising the script, the filmmaker is reportedly working on music sittings, character designs, and look tests well ahead of the shoot.

The idea is to have every major pre-production task completed so that filming can commence without delay once Allu Arjun wraps up his commitments for Raaka.
