A high-level review meeting on the ongoing crisis in the Telugu film theatre sector was held recently in the presence of Megastar Chiranjeevi, where leading members of the film industry discussed the challenges faced by single-screen theatres.
During the meeting, concerns regarding the closure of several single-screen theatres were brought to the attention of Chiranjeevi, who was reportedly surprised by the scale of the issue. Industry representatives urged that a final decision be taken only after the committee appointed to study the matter submits its report.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, producer Dil Raju said that Chiranjeevi had carefully understood the problems faced by exhibitors after reviewing inputs collected over the past week. He added that official details regarding the discussions will be released by the chamber in a day or two.
Dil Raju further stated that Chiranjeevi assured stakeholders that all concerns would be forwarded to the committee and that a quick resolution would be pursued. According to him, exhibitors expressed satisfaction with the positive response received during the meeting.
Exhibitors’ representatives also shared that they had an extensive discussion lasting over an hour with Chiranjeevi, during which they explained the crisis affecting single screens and theatre operations. They said the actor-turned-leader responded constructively, promising to consult committee members and hold further discussions with exhibitors before arriving at a final decision.
The meeting has brought renewed hope among theatre owners, who believe that a structured solution may soon be reached to address the challenges facing single-screen cinemas in the Telugu film industry.
