Class X and Intermediate exams cancelled in Andhra Pradesh

Putting an end to the uncertainty over Class X and Intermediate examinations in Andhra Pradesh, Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh has announced that the state decided to cancel the examinations.

Speaking at a media conference in Vijayawada, the Minister said, “The Supreme Court has directed that the Inter results be released by July 31. It will take 45 days for the conduct and evaluation of the papers. It is impossible to conduct the examinations as per the decision of the Supreme Court. We have decided to cancel the exams so that the students do not suffer more.”

The Supreme Court this morning raised several questions on the affidavit filed by the AP government on conducting Class X and Inter examinations. The SC warned the AP government that if any student dies during the examination process, the state has to pay Rs 1 crore compensation to the deceased student’s family.

The affidavit filed by AP also did not mention the details of the rooms where the tests would be conducted. The apex court questioned the AP public prosecutor whether he had witnessed the situation in the second wave. The state government has finally announced the cancellation of Class X and Inter examinations after considering the Supreme Court instructions.
