Covid-19 vaccine: Priyanka Chopra’s appeal to US government for help gets mixed reactions

Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra has earnestly appealed to US President Joe Biden, and other US government officials to help India as the nation is facing a grave situation in its battle against COVID-19. In a tweet shared from her official handle, owing to her international connections, the actress urged the government officials to ‘share vaccines’ as the situation is critical here.

Emphasising that the US government ordered about 550 million doses in excess than needed, she felt that it caused a huge burden in India and tweeted, “My heart breaks. India is suffering from COVID19 & the US has ordered 550M more vaccines than needed @POTUS @WHCOS @SecBlinken @JakeSullivan46 Thx for sharing AstraZeneca worldwide, but the situation in my country is critical.”

However, her tweet got mixed reactions. Majority of the twitteratis mocked her for expressing the concern very late. They suggested it should have been two weeks earlier. They ridiculed the actor saying that she should not have waited to promote a vaccine campaign.

“This tweet was required at least 2 weeks back. You shouldn’t have waited for #VaxLive campaign to tweet for your fellow countrymen,” a Twitter user said. While few supported her for coming forward and showing her courage during the time of crisis.
