Jason Sanjay’s Sigma May Move to Avoid Vijay’s Jana Nayagan

Jason Sanjay, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay, is gearing up for his directorial debut with Sigma, an action drama starring Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah in the lead roles. Although the film was initially scheduled for a theatrical release on July 31, 2026, fresh reports suggest that the release may now be pushed to August.

While there has been no official confirmation from the makers, industry buzz indicates that the decision is being considered to avoid a box-office clash with Vijay’s much-awaited film Jana Nayagan, which is expected to hit theatres around the same time.

Interestingly, reports suggest that Jana Nayagan is likely to arrive on July 24, prompting the makers of Sigma to rethink their release strategy. Rather than competing with one of the year’s biggest Tamil releases, the team is reportedly looking for a more favorable window.

If the postponement is officially confirmed, it would mark a rare and unusual situation where a filmmaker’s debut project is delayed to avoid clashing with a film headlined by his own father.

Sigma has already completed principal photography and is currently in the post-production stage, with the team focusing on finalizing visual effects and other technical work before announcing a new release date.

The development has also sparked curiosity given the speculation surrounding Vijay’s personal life and his reported differences with family members amid ongoing divorce-related issues. Whether Vijay will actively support or promote his son’s directorial venture remains to be seen.

For now, all eyes are on the official announcements, as both Sigma and Jana Nayagan are among the most anticipated Tamil releases, and their release strategies could become one of the biggest talking points in the coming weeks.
