Director Inviting To Hotel Room Made Me Uncomfortable: Actress!

The Casting Couch row created a sensation across the globe. Though it was started in Hollywood with a few actresses sharing their horrific experiences, the controversy later spread to other industries too. One after the other, the actresses came forward to share what they went through.

Senior Bollywood actress Vidya Balan who is riding high on women-centric films revealed how she almost faced a casting couch incident. Walking down memory lane, the actress said that a director tried to misbehave with her but she escaped the incident as he handled the situation better.

In an interview, Vidya Balan said that when she was in Chennai for an ad shoot, a director called for a project, and during the conversation, he insisted on going into the hotel room. Having sensed something wrong, she left the hotel door open and the director left.

“I didn’t understand, because I was alone. But I did a very smart thing. When we went to the room, I left the door open. And then he knew that the only way for him was out. So, I don’t really believe that I’ve had an experience with the casting couch,” Vidya Balan said.

Saying that self-preservation kicked in, Vidya Balan said that she cannot call the incident casting couch as no suggestion or proposition was made. In her interview, she shared many interesting things like meeting her husband.

Vidya Balan said that she met Siddharth Roy Kapur in Mumbai after the awards ceremony. At a party hosted by Karan Johar, she met Kapur and their conversation started there. Vidya Balan called Siddharth Roy Kapur a charming man.

Calling Karan Johar the matchmaker between them, Vidya Balan said that their first conversation was a polite one and things started brewing.

“Life was bringing us together a lot at that time. We ended up at a party together at Karan’s place. Karan has played Cupid in this relationship. He invited me to a party at his house and I was a bit [surprised] because I didn’t really know him. I [felt] how sweet,” Vidya Balan said.

Vidya Balan’s last outing was Jalsa. Suresh Triveni’s directorial was a thriller film that also stars talented actress Shefali Shah. She has two projects which are in the shooting stage. However, the projects are yet to be titled.
