A severe heatwave sweeping across Europe has claimed multiple lives, with authorities reporting a tragic incident in France where a three-year-old boy was found dead inside a car in the Paris region on Thursday. This marks the third child death linked to extreme temperatures in the country this week.

According to a police source, the child was discovered by his parents inside a vehicle parked outside their residence in Saint-Gratien, a suburb of Paris. Civil defence officials have confirmed the death and launched further inquiries into the incident.

In Spain, the relentless heatwave has been associated with an estimated 212 deaths between Sunday and Wednesday, based on data from the MoMo mortality monitoring system. The system assesses excess mortality by comparing current death figures with historical averages.

Much of Europe continues to battle unusually high temperatures, with health authorities issuing repeated warnings as concerns grow over the escalating impact of extreme weather linked to climate change.
