Hajipur rape case: Accused gets death penalty

The 30-year-old Marri Srinivas Reddy, who was an elevator mechanic at Hajipur in Yadadri Bhongir district has been sentenced to death on the barbarous case of rape and murder of three minor girls in the village. The Nalgonda District Court’s Additional District Judge, Sidda Venkata Viswanatha Reddy found him guilty in all the three cases charged against him and pronounced the judgement.

Srinivas Reddy said to have abducted, raped and killed two girls and sexually harassed and murdered one more girl. He had a plotting before itself and buried the victims’ bodies in isolated agricultural wells near the village. Today, before pronouncing the verdict, the Judge has asked Srinivas Reddy once again if he has got anything to say about the cases. However, he refused to commit the crime and pleaded that he was not guilty of the offences charged against him.

He argued in the last minute that he is booked into these cases out of conspiracy by others and he is not involved. Talking about the crime, a 14-year-old girl was abducted when she was on the way to her school in April 2019. Later, her body was found buried in an abandoned farm well on the outskirts of Hajipur.

Srinivas Reddy also confessed during the interrogation that he had slaughtered two more girls aged seventeen and eleven in the same manner. For all the cases, Reddy has trapped the girls by offering a lift on his bike. After fast track court set up for the trial of Hajipur case and awarded death penalty to the accused, the locals have celebrated over the news by burning firecrackers.
