Over time, names such as KS Ravikumar, Sundar C, and Cibi Chakravarthy were associated with the project before the makers finally entrusted the responsibility to Ashwath Marimuthu. The young filmmaker, who has earned recognition with two successful films and recently scored a major hit with Dragon, is now directing one of the biggest projects of his career.

The title Dharman was officially announced today, with Rajinikanth playing the titular character. The film is being mounted on a grand scale with a substantial budget, reflecting the confidence the producers have in the project. For Ashwath Marimuthu, the opportunity represents a dream come true, as he has long expressed a desire to work with the Superstar.

Adding to the excitement, Ashwath described Dharman as a unique blend of Rajinikanth’s iconic Padayappa and Kamal Haasan’s acclaimed Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu. He also revealed that Rajinikanth will be seen in a completely new avatar, one that is expected to surprise audiences.

The director also shared an interesting anecdote from his first meeting with Rajinikanth. According to Ashwath, the Superstar told him, “We should win at any cost. We are doing this with RKFI and Kamal Haasan. Consider me your assistant. I’ll share my suggestions, and you can either use them or ignore them.” The remark reflects Rajinikanth’s humility and collaborative approach despite his legendary status.
