Israel has warned that it is prepared to resume military operations against Iran if required, with Defence Minister Israel Katz stating that any future campaign would be carried out with even greater intensity.
Katz made the remarks during a military ceremony on Thursday, as renewed tensions between the United States and Iran raised concerns over the possibility of escalating hostilities following previous ceasefire agreements.
“The army is ready and on alert for a resumption of fighting,” Katz said, adding that Israel would act to maintain air superiority and target what it considers to be threats inside Iran if necessary. He further warned that any return to conflict would involve stronger military action.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also addressed the situation, claiming that Iran’s regional influence had been significantly weakened following previous military operations. However, he acknowledged that the confrontation was not completely over.
“The Iranian axis is weaker than ever before, while Israel is stronger than ever before,” Netanyahu said, while highlighting Israel’s ability to conduct operations across a wide geographical area.
The latest statements come amid heightened tensions after earlier military confrontations involving Israel, the United States and Iran. The conflict began with a major air campaign launched by the US and Israel against Iran, resulting in the deaths of several senior Iranian officials, including the country’s supreme leader.
The developments have renewed concerns over the stability of the region, with international observers closely monitoring the situation for signs of further escalation.
