With the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh, headed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, set to complete two years in office next month, the YSR Congress Party has decided to intensify its public outreach and organisational activity.
YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who recently returned to India after a foreign visit to London, resumed work from his Tadepalli camp office on Tuesday. Party sources indicate that Jagan is shifting his focus back to active political engagement and internal restructuring of the party.
After the 2024 Assembly election defeat, Jagan had largely restricted his activities to constituency-level meetings and district visits, primarily to interact with cadres and console party workers. Although plans for extensive statewide tours and cadre mobilisation were discussed earlier, they did not fully take shape.
Now, party insiders say there is a renewed push to revive organisational strength. A crucial meeting with senior leaders has reportedly been scheduled for May 13, where the current political situation in Andhra Pradesh is expected to be reviewed in detail.
Discussions are also underway regarding the YSRCP plenary session planned for July 8 and 9. Leaders believe the plenary could help boost cadre morale and restore momentum within the party.
Jagan is also said to be considering large-scale district tours, followed by a possible statewide padayatra next year as part of a broader outreach strategy. The upcoming leadership meeting is expected to decide whether to prioritise the plenary or immediately launch district-level programmes.
In parallel, Jagan is reviewing pending constituency coordinator appointments and is expected to finalise key organisational changes soon. Party sources suggest he has directed leaders to prepare for a more aggressive political approach in the coming months.
With the ruling TDP gearing up for its Mahanadu conclave in Nellore later this month, political observers see this as the beginning of a renewed political face-off in Andhra Pradesh, with YSRCP preparing its counter-strategy to rebuild grassroots strength.
