Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has reportedly begun focusing on strengthening the Janasena Party from the grassroots level to every constituency ahead of the 2029 Assembly elections.
Having contested only 21 seats in the 2024 elections, the party’s long-term goal is believed to be establishing a strong organizational presence across all 175 Assembly constituencies. However, discussions surrounding the possible induction of leaders from rival parties have sparked debate among party supporters and political observers.
Reports suggest that former minister Avanthi Srinivas from Bheemili and senior politician Aamanchi Krishnamohan from Chirala are in talks with Janasena. Their potential entry has raised questions about whether the party should rely on experienced political figures or focus on nurturing its own cadre and emerging leaders.
Avanthi Srinivas has had a long political journey, having been associated with multiple parties, including Praja Rajyam, Congress, TDP, and YSR Congress Party. He has won elections both as an MP and MLA and is known for his strong electoral calculations. Critics, however, argue that his frequent party changes raise concerns about long-term commitment.
Similarly, Aamanchi Krishnamohan has switched between several parties over the years, including Congress, TDP, YSRCP, and Congress again before the 2024 elections. Though he remains an influential leader in parts of Prakasam district, his political history has often been marked by controversy and shifting allegiances.
The debate now centers on whether Janasena should prioritize leaders with electoral experience or invest more heavily in developing loyal and committed party workers who can grow with the organization over the long term. As the party expands its footprint, such decisions could play a crucial role in shaping its future political trajectory.
