Jennifer Lopez has opened up about how filming on-screen kissing scenes still feels “a bit nerve-racking,” even after decades in the entertainment industry.
The actress and singer attended the premiere of her upcoming romantic comedy “Office Romance,” co-starring Brett Goldstein, at Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre, according to People magazine.
Speaking at the event, Lopez admitted that intimate scenes still bring a level of discomfort, especially when working with a new co-star. “I’ve been doing this a long time. I want to say that I was fine, but it’s always a thing. It’s like, ‘Okay, I have to kiss this person that I don’t know and I’m just getting to know you.’ You get a little nervous, that’s all,” she said.
Her co-star Brett Goldstein, 45, echoed the sentiment, adding that the key is to “just go for it” and not overthink the moment, despite the pressure of bright lights and large film crews.
In Office Romance, Lopez plays Jackie Cruz, a powerful CEO who falls for her newly hired employee Daniel Blanchflower, played by Goldstein. Their professional relationship gradually turns into a secret romance that grows more complicated as they choose to follow their hearts.
Lopez also spoke warmly about working with Goldstein, noting their instant chemistry. “I expected more of a rough guy, but you get this kind, gentle but also very smart person that is so charming. That was a surprise,” she said.
A self-confessed fan of Ted Lasso, she added that she initially expected Goldstein to resemble his fiery on-screen persona, Roy Kent, but found him to be “soft-spoken, sweet, and completely different.”
Goldstein, meanwhile, revealed that he and co-writer Joe Kelly had written the rom-com with Lopez in mind while working on Ted Lasso Season 3 during a train journey.
