Even as DMK leader and former Chief Minister M. K. Stalin continues to claim that the government led by Joseph Vijay may not last beyond a couple of years, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) appears to be steadily strengthening its position with each passing day, as more elected MLAs reportedly show interest in aligning with the party.
Recent political developments indicate that three MLAs elected on the AIADMK symbol have resigned from the Tamil Nadu Assembly and are expected to join Joseph Vijay’s TVK in the near future. This development has come as a major setback for the AIADMK, led by Edappadi K. Palaniswami, which has already been facing internal challenges following its recent electoral performance.
Reports suggest that the MLAs — Maragatham Kumaravel, Jayakumar, and Satyabhama — submitted their resignations to the Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker and also met key TVK functionaries earlier in the day, sparking intense discussion in political circles.
Interestingly, all three MLAs are said to have won from AIADMK strongholds and were previously part of a rebel faction that extended support to Joseph Vijay during a crucial floor test, against the party high command’s stance.
With TVK reportedly gaining support from smaller parties as well, the political landscape in Tamil Nadu is becoming increasingly dynamic and unpredictable. The shifting loyalties of MLAs have further intensified speculation about the stability and future strength of the current power structure.
Meanwhile, opposition parties have alleged attempts at political poaching, while TVK leadership has chosen not to respond directly, focusing instead on governance and policy implementation.
