Karan’s much-talked ‘Koffee With Karan’ started way back in 2004 and it turned into an instant hit. This show brought out the light-hearted side of Bollywood stars. Karan mostly focused on gossip and spicy questions about their relationships and fantasies. The talk show was one of the most successful ventures on Indian television and it always made headlines for the various comments made by the guests.
During the last episode, he opened up about mentioning Alia Bhatt too much and asking too many sex-related questions. He said, “I want to do what pleases me. Doing Koffee With Karan makes me happy? Of course, there was so much feedback coming in there like ‘Why is Karan talking so much about Alia?’ ‘Why does he talk so much about people’s sex lives?’ And I’m like, actually, I don’t think of these things.”
He added, “Maybe I’m curious about people’s sex lives so I asked about them. Maybe I am very proud of Alia, and it comes out in every conversation of mine. So we have to police myself when I get that feedback. I read it. But what amuses me is that they’re wrong long columns people write and I’m like, ‘It’s just a talk show, which is not even a cerebral talk show.’ It’s a frivolous, fun talk show. But people have really analyzed it in long columns and I’m almost amused that they have all the time in the world to analyze the show. I wouldn’t give it that much time. I don’t know why they are.”
Karan Johar is currently producing a couple of projects and he is directing ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ which has Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt playing the lead.

Karuppu Controversy: Vijay vs Suriya Casting Debate Sparks Buzz
June 5, 2026

In the film industry, it is not uncommon for a story rejected by one actor to eventually turn into a blockbuster with another. The Tamil film industry, in particular, has several such examples, and the recently successful film Karuppu has now joined that list. However, rather than just its success, discussions around who was initially considered for the film have taken center stage on social media.
The controversy began after director RJ Balaji revealed in an interview that he had originally narrated the story of Karuppu to actor Vijay, even imagining it as a fitting final film in his career. This statement sparked curiosity and debate among fans.
The situation escalated further after editor Kalaiwanan commented that if Vijay had done the film, it would have reached an entirely different level of success. This remark did not sit well with fans of Suriya, especially as the film is currently heading toward a massive ₹300 crore-plus box office run.
Fans strongly questioned the relevance of comparing actors after the film’s success, arguing that it undermines Suriya’s contribution. They highlighted that his powerful performance, particularly in the emotionally charged climax sequences involving intense expressions and dance, played a crucial role in the film’s impact. Many believe such moments cannot simply be replicated by any other actor.
Amid the growing discussion, Suriya responded indirectly with a brief social media post urging positivity and unity, which fans interpreted as a calm response to the controversy.
Meanwhile, Kalaiwanan later clarified that his comments were misinterpreted and assured that he would be more careful in the future, which helped ease tensions.
The episode also brought attention back to the strong bond between RJ Balaji and Suriya, with the director previously referring to the actor as someone who significantly influenced his career.
Overall, the Karuppu discussion once again highlights a recurring trend in the industry — stories changing hands between actors — but also raises questions about post-release comparisons that often overshadow the contribution of the actor who ultimately brought the film to life.
