Karthi’s much-anticipated straight Telugu film with director Kalyan Shankar has reportedly hit an early roadblock even before the shoot could gain full momentum.
Backed by Sithara Entertainments, the project was launched recently amid strong buzz, marking Karthi’s return to a direct Telugu film after a long gap. The team had also completed a low-key first schedule in Hyderabad, featuring Karthi and Meenakshi Chaudhary in key portions.
However, industry reports suggest that Karthi was not entirely convinced with the footage from the initial schedule. Following this, he is said to have requested significant changes to the script and overall narration before the project moves ahead.
This development has reportedly put the film on temporary hold, with discussions currently underway between the team and the actor regarding possible rewrites and creative adjustments.
While there is no official statement from the makers, speculation is growing that the project could face delays if the creative differences are not resolved soon.
Director Kalyan Shankar, known for youthful entertainers like MAD and MAD Square, is said to have a style that differs from Karthi’s expectations for the film, which may have contributed to the current situation.
Adding to the uncertainty, the film has not yet officially locked its music director even after launch, indicating that pre-production is still evolving.
Despite these hurdles, the project remains an important one for Sithara Entertainments and producer Naga Vamsi, given the strong interest around the Karthi–Kalyan Shankar combination.
The coming weeks will be crucial in deciding whether the film moves forward with revisions or undergoes a larger creative rethink before resuming production.
