Priyanka Opens Up About Rajamouli’s Varanasi
Actress Priyanka Chopra is gearing up for her much-awaited return to Indian cinema with Varanasi, the ambitious global adventure directed by S. S. Rajamouli and starring Mahesh Babu in the lead role.
During a recent episode of the Jonas Brothers’ YouTube podcast, Priyanka joined her husband Nick Jonas and his brothers Kevin and Joe Jonas, where she spoke about the highly anticipated project and shared a few interesting details about its production.
The actress revealed that she has been working on Varanasi for nearly 14 months, highlighting the film’s massive scale and Rajamouli’s meticulous filmmaking process.
“I’ve been working on it for almost 14 months now. But this filmmaker, S. S. Rajamouli, is known for taking that kind of time to make movies,” Priyanka said, praising the director’s commitment to creating large-scale cinematic experiences.
She also clarified that although she is widely associated with Bollywood, Varanasi is a South Indian production. Priyanka pointed to Rajamouli’s RRR as an example of the grand vision and cinematic scale that audiences can expect from the upcoming film.
During the conversation, Priyanka fondly recalled how Joe Jonas had recommended RRR to her even before she had watched the blockbuster herself. She laughed while remembering Joe’s excitement about the film, calling it a fun family moment.
Speaking about Varanasi, Priyanka described it as an epic adventure that spans different parts of the world and travels across time, adding that she is thrilled to be part of such an ambitious project.
While she remained tight-lipped about her character, Priyanka offered fans a playful teaser about the action in the film.
“I do so many amazing slow-motion jumps, and that’s all I can say,” she joked, leaving fans curious about her role.
The Jonas brothers also shared their excitement about the project, with Kevin Jonas praising RRR and expressing his eagerness to watch Rajamouli’s next cinematic venture.
Currently under production, Varanasi is one of the most anticipated Indian films in development. Directed by S. S. Rajamouli, the film stars Mahesh Babu in the lead, with Priyanka Chopra playing a pivotal role in what promises to be a grand, globe-trotting action adventure.
