Karuppu has continued its impressive run at the Indian box office after a strong first week, maintaining solid momentum during its second weekend as well.
Right from day one, the fantasy action drama has been setting new benchmarks for Suriya and has now officially ended the actor’s long dry spell by emerging as a clean commercial success.
According to trade reports, the film reportedly recovered its entire budget through domestic net collections within just nine days of release. On its second Saturday, Karuppu collected around Rs 12.2 crore, showing a significant jump from its day-eight earnings of Rs 7.8 crore.
As per estimates from Sacnilk, the film has so far earned approximately Rs 133.85 crore net at the Indian box office, translating to nearly Rs 157.94 crore gross. With the current trend remaining highly positive, trade circles believe the film could enjoy a long theatrical run and may even enter the prestigious Rs 200 crore net club in India.
For Suriya, this marks a major comeback moment. After finally crossing the Rs 100 crore milestone in his career, the actor now appears to be heading toward another significant achievement.
Suriya had been facing a difficult phase at the box office for several years. With Karuppu, he has reportedly delivered his first clear commercial success in nearly a decade. His last successful film was Pasanga 2, which released back in 2015.
The success of Karuppu has also arrived at the perfect time for Kollywood, which had been waiting for a major box-office winner in 2026. The film’s strong performance has injected fresh energy into the Tamil film industry while also giving Suriya the comeback success many fans had been waiting for.
