Actress Kriti Sanon has spoken about an unpleasant experience with an unnamed male co-star, revealing that he allegedly tried to dictate how much she should participate in the promotions of one of their films.

During a conversation with Lilly Singh, Kriti said she found the incident both surprising and disrespectful. She recalled feeling uncomfortable when the actor reportedly suggested that her involvement in the promotional campaign should be limited.

“I found that so weird and almost disrespectful. I felt if you don’t need me for promotions, then you should promote the film alone,” Kriti said.

The actress admitted that the situation affected her enough to withdraw from most of the film’s promotional activities. According to Kriti, she eventually agreed to attend only one promotional event after the film’s director personally requested her to be a part of it.

“A lot of it, I just backed out,” she revealed.

Although Kriti chose not to disclose the name of the actor or the film, her comments have reignited conversations about gender dynamics and power equations in the film industry.

In many big-budget productions, promotional campaigns are often centered around male stars, while actresses are sometimes expected to adjust to decisions made by others. Kriti’s experience highlights the challenges that can arise even for established female actors when it comes to receiving equal visibility and respect during a film’s publicity.

Rather than accepting the situation silently, Kriti decided to distance herself from the campaign, making it clear that she was unwilling to be treated as a secondary presence in a project to which she had contributed equally.
