Actor and Andhra Pradesh MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna delivered an emotional speech at the silver jubilee celebrations of the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad. The hospital, which marks 25 years of dedicated service, was founded with the vision of providing affordable cancer care, especially for underprivileged patients.

The grand event was attended by several prominent leaders, medical professionals, donors, and members of the Nandamuri family. Speaking at the occasion, Balakrishna expressed deep emotional connection with the hospital, stating that it was not just an institution for him, but a tribute to his mother, Basavatarakam Nandamuri.

Recalling his personal journey, he said his family had the means to afford advanced treatment when his mother battled cancer, but many families across the country are not as fortunate. This painful realization, he said, led to the creation of the Basavatarakam Trust and the establishment of the cancer hospital.

Balakrishna highlighted the hospital’s remarkable growth over the years, noting that it now performs around 35 to 40 cancer surgeries daily and has provided outpatient services to more than 3.75 lakh patients. He emphasized that the hospital’s mission has always been to ensure that patients walk in with fear and leave with hope and confidence.

He also thanked the governments of both Telugu states, along with donors and supporting organizations, for their continued assistance in strengthening the hospital’s services over the past 25 years. Balakrishna added that the original promise made at the hospital’s inception has been fulfilled with dedication and compassion.

Looking ahead, he announced plans to establish a new cancer hospital in Amaravati and further expand the Hyderabad facility to reach even more patients in need, reinforcing the commitment to accessible healthcare for all.
