Krishnavataram Fails to Impress at Box Office

Despite being mounted on a lavish scale, Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart has ended up as a disappointing performer at the box office. Directed by Hardik Gajjar, the film was reportedly made on a massive budget of nearly ₹60 crore. However, after completing 10 days in theatres, it has managed to recover only 28.36 percent of its total investment.

In trade circles, there is a strong belief that devotional and Hindutva-themed films usually enjoy a natural advantage due to audience sentiment and cultural connection. But the underwhelming performance of Krishnavataram once again proves that religious themes alone are not enough to guarantee commercial success.

Many expected the film to recreate the success of Mahavatar Narasimha, which emerged as a major hit last year. Unlike that animated feature, Krishnavataram was made as a live-action spectacle with grand visuals and high production values showcased prominently in its trailer. Despite the scale and presentation, the film failed to strike a strong chord with audiences.

According to a trade analyst, even the current 28 percent recovery was largely driven by the movie’s devotional backdrop. He added that content and emotional connection remain the key factors for success, and with stronger word of mouth, the film could have comfortably moved into the profit zone.
