KTR does damage control after Basar IIT fiasco

Realising that the agitation by the students of the Basar IIT has badly damaged the image of the TRS government, its working president KTR has decided to do some damage control. He flew down to Basar IIT along with minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and others to meet the students, who have been on warpath.

The agitation by the Basar IIT students brought a lot of shame and infamy to the TRS government. The students complained about food quality and lack of basic amenities. Several students fell sick and one student even died, albeit for another reason. The TRS government did not ignore the agitation even as it continued for several weeks. The situation has come to such a pass that Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan personally visited the campus and interacted with the students to take stock of the situation.

State government’s inaction and Governor’s initiative have shown the government in a poor light. Realising that it was impacting the overall image of the government, KTR landed in the IIT and dined with the students. Every effort was made to show that things were hunky-dory on the campus. KTR did not forget posing with happily smiling students and tried to show that everything was alright.

He promised to set up a mini T hub on the IIT premises. He said laptops would be distributed to the students in November. He said that special officers were appointed to look into the problems of the students. He also did not forget to laud the students for their peaceful manner of highlighting the problems in the IIT. The whole attempt is being seen as an exercise in damage control.
