Actress Shilpa Shirodkar recently shared a hilarious family anecdote involving her superstar brother-in-law, Mahesh Babu, revealing how he secretly understood Marathi without letting anyone know.

Appearing on the latest episode of the dance reality show India’s Best Dancer Season 5, Shilpa recalled an amusing incident from the early days of Mahesh Babu’s marriage to her sister, actress Namrata Shirodkar.

According to Shilpa, when Namrata and Mahesh had just gotten married, the family believed that the Telugu superstar did not understand Marathi. Taking advantage of that assumption, Shilpa and Namrata would often switch to Marathi whenever they wanted to have a private conversation in front of him.

Sharing the incident, Shilpa said that one day, after several years of marriage, she and Namrata were chatting in Marathi when Mahesh unexpectedly responded in the same language by saying, “Accha, asa kaay?” The sisters were left stunned after realizing that he had understood their conversations all along.

Mahesh then admitted that he could understand Marathi, leaving both Shilpa and Namrata completely surprised. Recalling the moment, Shilpa said they were relieved that they had never spoken about anything too sensitive in front of him, joking that they had been unknowingly exposing all their private conversations for years.

The light-hearted revelation drew laughter from the audience and offered fans a rare glimpse into the fun family bond shared by Mahesh Babu and the Shirodkar sisters.

For those unaware, Mahesh Babu married former actress Namrata Shirodkar in 2005. The couple remains one of the most admired celebrity pairs in Indian cinema and are parents to two children, Gautam and Sitara.
