Recent reports suggesting that Dubai-based Phars Films was close to acquiring the overseas distribution rights of S.S. Rajamouli’s upcoming film Varanasi have now been officially denied by the company.

Industry speculation claimed that Phars Films had emerged as the frontrunner for the lucrative overseas rights and that discussions with producer K.L. Narayana were in the final stages. The reports also suggested that an official agreement was expected to be finalized soon.

However, when approached for clarification, Phars Films dismissed the reports outright. Responding to the speculation, the company stated, “Wrong news. We don’t know anything about this movie,” making it clear that it is not involved in any negotiations related to the project.

The clarification effectively puts an end to the rumors linking Phars Films with the highly anticipated film, which stars Mahesh Babu in the lead and is being directed by S.S. Rajamouli.

With the reports now denied, the identity of the distributor who will eventually secure the overseas rights remains unknown. Given Rajamouli’s remarkable success in international markets and the enormous anticipation surrounding Varanasi, the overseas distribution rights are expected to attract intense interest from several major players.
